Day 26 - The after effects of anaesthetic. Not great. WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES!!!!

Freda Fretter and Hormonal Hannah ganged up on Baggy again last night. They made Baggy scared to go to bed, even though she was exhausted and had had less sleep in the previous two nights than she normally has in one. She finally went up at 12.30am. But maybe it was a good plan because she must literally have started snoring as she hit the pillow, because the next thing she knew a cat , (thankfully the less fat one), Bracket, leapt over the foot of the bed meowing and before Baggy could react landed on her stomach wound and then her newly operated on arm. Flipping OUCH!

Clever Bird blames the anaesthetic. Baggy has cotton-wool brain and is rather spaced out. She was supposed to shut the bedroom door but forgot. Fortunately, the body is interesting and now because the brain is focussing on the pain in Baggy's arm, the stomach barely hurts. Well it probably does but Baggy can't feel it. To stop Baggy now overdoing it with her arm, so far today Clever Bird hasn't let her take any painkillers and the pain is really not too bad. But Baggy can't bend her arm very well or bend her fingers properly. So Calum put her ponytail in, with much swearing and a "How do you do this on your own?" comment. At some point Baggy needs to get dressed, but poor Calum is clearly at the end of his tether with Baggy's total over use of the "in sickness" vow. He is very stressed out and although he says he is okay, clearly he isn't, so Clever Bird is trying not to ask him for anything unless he offers, so Baggy may have to stay in her dressing gown!

The worst pain today is Baggy's throat. It is so sore. Presumably some metal tube shoved down it yesterday. At least she doesn't have a cut lip to go with it as she did with her Lawrence surgery. She is also boom, boomedy, booming again and shaky; her heart, thinks Freda. Best not mention it to Cal though, Bless him. Baggy adores that man but he really has had enough. Of course the horrible anaesthetic has also brought Baggy Blimp back damn it. Baggy is very hesitant to return to the laxative after her previous experiences, but might have to, as her stomach is so swollen it is beginning to hurt again. That will be fun when Baggy can't pull her knickers down quickly left-handed. Eeeeeew. Watch this space.

Clever Bird has decided that as Clara is now more on arm recovery than the Lawrence-the-durmoid-cyst recovery, it might be a good time to share with her bloggees how far (what she can see of that wound has come). Many apologies to any of you she might now have offended, she just wanted to let anyone going through this see that it's not that bad. But the pictures are rather graphic and because of where the incision is, also rather personal. In fact Clever Bird doesn't even know whether they will be allowed. But she hopes that they are and that they are helpful, not just yuck, because she wants to be honest.

Maybe it's the anaesthetic making her not think straight.......

Baggy's Lawrence wound the first day home after surgery (i.e. six days after surgery). Staples still in. Very swollen and with a weird dip half way down. (Where Lawrence was??)

Yesterday (28 days after surgery). Staples long gone. Healing well. Bruising almost gone. Still very swollen with a weird dip, but not as bad as it was.

  1. My "dip" is much worse. It looks like another bum.

    1. Bless you Linda. Hopefully both our dips will reduce once the swelling goes down.
