The walk yesterday took even more out of Baggy than she realised. Before she went to bed her arm was extremely painful. Clever Bird finally realised two things. Firstly, because she is right-handed it is much too easy to use Baggy's poorly arm. Last year when her left arm had the same operation, she couldn't do anything that even vaguely needed both hands because her left hand wasn't that much use in the first place. For instance typing. Baggy didn't even try to use her left hand last year. This year trying to stop Creative Clara using her right hand is a nightmare. Or eating. This time Baggy keeps trying to cut food, butter bread, stir her tea, whatever, using her poorly arm. Even getting dressed seems to be "easier" than last time, so Clever Bird realises that she is over-using Baggy's arm. Having totally forgotten Baggy's Lawrence-the-durmoid-cyst surgery when deciding to go out with Minty Mutt and Debby, Clever Bird then forgot Baggy's arm when her stomach started to hurt. Instead of keeping it raised up, she walked for the last twenty minutes or so holding Baggy's stomach wound. Result: Blood rushing to the wound. Swollen arm. Very pretty purple bruises. Burning pain. Oh and that feeling that Baggy's funny bone is being whacked with a hammer.
Hormonal Hannah is getting worse and worse about taking Baggy to bed. Clever Bird can't figure out what she's scared of. Baggy has her night lights now. But she doesn't want to go up. So last night she was watching rubbish on catch-up telly (live telly still doesn't work) until 2.00am. Then she lay in bed, stressed, worried, panicked and blubbed for an hour, while trying and failing to lie in such a way that Baggy's arm wasn't agony. It was about 3.15am when she finally fell asleep. She then slept fitfully amidst hot flushes, arm pain and needing to wee. She was sparko when Calum phoned to say "good morning" at 9.30am. She got up.
Minty Mutt had already had his morning walk with Debby and Pickle. He was so excited to see Furry Mama when she came downstairs, tail wagging and spinning around, looking so much more relaxed than yesterday. No sickness today. Just a ruined sitting room carpet from yesterday. Oh dear.
This morning Baggy's arm is probably the most painful it's been. It has bad pins and needles. So Clever Bird has made Clara type with only one finger on her left hand, while her right is resting (very painfully) on pillows. Baggy is going to remember that it is still only five weeks since her Lawrence surgery and five days since her arm surgery. The good news is that Baggy's stomach is nowhere near as swollen as it was, so maybe the walking at least helped that. Rest Baggy, just rest.........
