Day 33 - The Hills are Alive with the Sounds of Baggy. Ouch!

It seemed like a good idea for Baggy, Calum, Debby, Minty Mutt and Pickle to go for a nice walk this morning as it's a pleasant day and this evening we're going out. So. Plan. Wear the dogs out. Burn off a few calories as we are going to a seriously good Indian restaurant. It's in the village that Baggy lived in before moving to Suffolk and Calum and Baggy went there a lot. In fact Calum proposed to Baggy there. But Deb's never been so it's Calum's treat to say a little "thank you" to Deb for taking over nursing duties from him. Going in the daylight also meant that Archaeology Annie could get a proper look at some of the lovely old houses in the village. (On last night's walk she was picking up Mesolithic spear and arrowheads from a field).

Debby suggested that we do the "golf course" walk. The one Baggy over did it on the other night. Clever Bird thought that would be fine, if she avoided the downhill bit that finished Baggy's stomach off. So we decided to do it the other way round. Yes, well done Clever Bird. It is a very long, very steep hill. Apparently going up it is even worse than going down it. Baggy had to take her hand out of her scarf sling to hold her stomach. Debby takes thirty minutes to "power walk" it on her own. Trust Baggy, this is very fast. So it clearly is still too far for Baggy's stomach after her surgery. It probably took Baggy an hour of walking plus a further thirty minutes of collapsing in regular little heaps to get round. With Calum and Debby taking it in turns to ask if Baggy was okay. "Yes, I'm fine. Go on, I'll catch you up." Ouch. Boom, boom, boomedy, boom, boom. Ouch. Okay, set off again. Slowly. Rest. Ouch. But at least this time it was daylight not pitch black, so Baggy could admire the wonderful views while she collapsed and quietly groaned.

Clever Bird is still fascinated about how the body works though. Baggy's arm was still incredibly painful this morning, hence why she had it in her scarf sling. But having walked quite a way through the village, then half a mile or so along a very muddy slippery track, when Baggy's stomach wound started to hurt, the arm was suddenly completely pain free. One lot of pain is enough to cope with apparently. It might also be why Freda Fretter is convinced that this arm surgery is much worse than last year's. Aside form the less strong painkillers and the fact that the right arm probably had more muscle to cut through (as Baggy is right handed), maybe Baggy's body is so busy trying to mend her insides after her Lawrence surgery that it can't really focus on her arm yet. It makes sense. Clearly more calories are required. Ooooooooo yes, Lamb Passanda it is tonight then......
