Day 34 - Lovely walk round the village.

Debby's right, Minty Mutt is looking so much better for his extra walks. At home when Furry Mama sees how stiff he is in his back legs she feels sorry for him and we head for home. Because Baggy had been unable to walk him very much anyway for a month before we arrived in Kent, (and he had had much less walks with Calum who couldn't leave Baggy), he had stiffened up even more. A bit like Baggy, the first walk that Minty went on here with Deb (a week ago) was very short and very slow. He has built up his fitness and is now doing much longer walks. He knows the routine now too. When he gets back he goes straight into the garden and waits by the hose for a tummy wash-down. Then he goes and stands just inside the door on the mat while he waits to be towel-dried. He doesn't move off the mat until his paws have been wiped. Such a good boy.

Today Baggy didn't want to walk too far and Archaeologist Annie wanted to see the rest of the village in the daylight. Minty had already been out once today with Debby, so Clever Bird thought it would be a short pootle, all on tarmac. It wasn't and it wasn't. Well it was shorter than the ones she's been doing. But it was still quite a way and although on roads and paths, many of them were covered in mud and leaves.

When walking on slippery bits (particularly, as today she was in fashion boots rather than walking ones), Baggy becomes very aware, very quickly that her core muscles are currently not quite up to the job. Clever Bird had also not entirely appreciated just how many hills the village is set on. Yes bloggees she has done three different walks, all of which involved hills, but this is Clever Bird we're talking about.

Freda Fretter started to worry that once again Furry Mama might have pushed Baggy too far. Baggy was feeling a little dizzy and breathless, but as Archaeologist Annie had brought her camera with her, it was a good excuse to stop and get her breath back. It made a jolly good sling for Baggy's arm too.

Sadly, the tiny tea room was closed, or Hormonal Hannah could have played the sympathy card and got Calum to buy her cappuccino and cake. But as Calum and Archaeologist Annie were walking, they chose the house that they would like to live in. Now they just need to win a few million;

before heading home to tea and a sofa. Minty Mutt has been fast asleep ever since, while Calum watches a seriously weird film (Rango) and Clara blogs.......
