Day 35 - Things are Looking Up.

Once again Hormonal Hannah didn't want to take Baggy to bed too early. So they toddled up at midnight. Baggy has been sleeping either on her back, with her arm resting on a pillow, or on her left side with a pillow lying on top of her and her arm resting on it. The pillow is essential. Baggy cannot put any pressure on the wound. Even today. It is much too painful. But Baggy doesn't sleep well on her back. And frankly, a thick pillow on top of her doesn't work terribly well with night sweats. But last night Baggy realised that the swelling had gone down just enough for her to lie on her left side with her arm along her side, without the pillow. Baggy's newly reappeared waist (thanks Slimming World) meant that the wounded bit of Baggy's arm was "floating" so there was no pressure on it. As Baggy is still not moving a millimetre in her sleep, when she woke up during the night, her arm was nowhere near as painful. As a result Baggy slept like a log.

Today, although Baggy's arm is still extremely painful, it seems a little better than it was yesterday. Clever Bird has made Baggy wear short sleeves today. Her arm is still so swollen that whenever Baggy puts even a seemingly loose sleeve over it, by the time she takes it off again, it's got tight. As Clever Bird is not sure whether the arm is just swelling during the day or whether a sleeve makes it worse, today she's dressed for summer. Just as well Deb's house is nice and warm.

Hormonal Hannah needs reassuring today. She is still worried about Baggy's arm, but slightly less so than yesterday. But she wants her life back. But as Clever Bird has explained to her, that is ridiculously selfish. Baggy is so lucky! Lawrence has gone and she is recovering really well from that surgery. Lawrence was not malignant, so she does not have to have further treatment. She has an amazing husband and a wonderful sister who have looked after her brilliantly. Her arm too is on the mend. She really is very lucky. But still. Furry Mama hasn't seen Hinge and Bracket for ten days and is constantly worrying about them. Grotty hasn't seen Wesley and Joey for sixteen days and knows that Wesley will be feeling that she's deserted him.

Furry Mama is even worried about Minty Mutt. He's doing great. He's really relaxed. But he probably thinks that he lives in Kent now. He must be missing Hinge and Bracket too. Particularly the Hinge, who he totally adores.

But equally Freda Fretter realises that even when she gets back home on Thursday, (which is in only three days time) it is unlikely that Baggy will be able to fend for herself. She cannot bend her arm and has very little grip in her hand, so it's difficult to do very much at all. She certainly won't be able to drive. Hopefully by the time Calum goes off to work on Sunday, Baggy will be okay on her own. But truthfully, Clever Bird suspects not. Ah well, clearly Baggy can't have her life back for some time. But she is very lucky! She can and will have it back at some point.........
